The annual Day of the Dead event took place in the streets of the University Park area near USC and downtown Los Angeles, as local community members wrote letters and painted pictures on long muslin fabric draped around the branches of a sprawling tree. Hundreds participated in adding their remembrances of loved ones who had passed away, forming a densely decorated memorial tapestry flying over the closed city streets.
